Report: GTA6 Marketing to Spend a Staggering $150 Million, Stunning Miami Officials

According to foreign media reports, Rockstar Games is planning to launch a large-scale GTA6 promotional campaign in Miami, even hoping to turn public facilities such as Miami International Airport and Metromover light rail stations into real-world promotional scenes for the game's fictional city "Vice City." However, this plan has drawn opposition from some local officials, who worry that cooperating with a game in which crime and violence are key elements could damage the city's image.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rene Garcia is one of the opponents. He said at a meeting that he was concerned about the partnership and did not want the local government to cooperate with a game that portrays Miami as a gathering place for criminals.

One focus of the controversy is Take-Two's plan to pay approximately $975,000 to install a giant "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the roof of the Kaseya Center arena. Because the deal amount is slightly below the $1 million approval threshold, some officials suspect the contract amount was deliberately structured to avoid an additional committee vote. In response, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava's office said the quoted price was based on comparable advertising agreements, and the current contract only involves one advertising facility on the arena's roof.

The report estimates that GTA6's marketing budget could reach $150 million, but this figure has not been officially confirmed. In addition, Miami has agreed to set up six temporary billboards at a price of up to $1.2 million, and the amount of the related promotional partnership with Miami Beach could reach $4 million.
