Summon the Tanks! Players Hope GTA6 Keeps Cheat Codes — This Classic Design Must Not Be Lost

Your turn to speak: Many players got a lot of fun out of the built-in cheat codes when they first played the GTA series, and clearly many players are also hoping this design will be retained in the new installment GTA6. What do you think?

Recently, blogger @NikTek posted a discussion about cheat codes that might be added to GTA6, sparking heated debate in the player community. He pointed out that from GTA5 to GTA6, there will be a huge difference in the game's sense of realism and gameplay style, so Rockstar might add a batch of cheat codes that "don't simply lower the difficulty, but rather reduce restrictions" — for example, removing the limit on the number of weapons carried, vehicles not needing refueling, and police no longer remembering the player's identity after they escape.

In the comments section, players put forward all kinds of expectations.

Some hope for a "riot cheat code" that plunges the city into chaos; others want complete cheat codes like those in Vice City, along with fun features such as spawning vehicles and spawning a T-Rex.

Some players also said the game could borrow the cheat code design from Red Dead Redemption 2, adding options like weapons, money, health boosts, and infinite ammo — but this time they hope there will be an invincibility mode.

However, some players expressed concerns. Some pointed out that Rockstar might, as in the past, disable trophies/achievements after cheat codes are activated, to prevent players from "having too much fun."

Another view holds that, given Rockstar's emphasis on realism in the Rob Nelson interview, this installment might even do away with cheat codes entirely. But other players reminded everyone that Red Dead Redemption 2 still had cheat codes — it's a Rockstar tradition.
