GTA 6's 'physical' edition is reportedly coming with a free gift digital gamers can't get
GTA VI is reportedly getting a free gift with its physical edition that digital gamers could miss out on, rubbing salt in the wounds of fans hyped for the next Grand Theft Auto release.
We’re just weeks away from GTA VI’s November launch, and it’s getting harder to escape the hype as social media algorithms go into overdrive. That’s despite GTA fans still being disappointed that the game’s physical edition won’t include a disc, and understandably so.
The controversy has also fuelled leaks from infamous hacker Cyberleek, who threatened this week to leak the entire game unless Rockstar Games changed its stance on physical media. But hey, we might not be getting a disc in the box, but we could be getting a physical pre-order bonus. Joy of joys.
What’s included in the GTA VI physical edition?
As picked up by ComicBook (via Reddit), a printout reportedly from GameStop stores in the US claims physical copies of GTA VI will come with a “collector’s map”.
It’s safe to assume this will be a map of Vice City and its surrounding areas. After all, it would be quite a shock if it turned out to be Liberty City or Los Santos. While it’s great to get something physical in the GTA VI box, it still feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth for fans.
We might be getting a physical map, but there’s no disc, with GTA VI shipping with a digital code instead. That begs the question: is there any real point in buying the “physical” edition? Perhaps that’s by design at Rockstar Games, but we can only speculate.
Will GTA VI physical copies really include a map?
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games, there’s a very good chance that GTA VI will include a physical map in the box. Especially since GTA III in 2001, pretty much all entries have included this item.
We’ve also had maps for GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA V. So it would be very surprising if Grand Theft Auto VI were suddenly an exception to that tradition. Either way, I’m sure we’ll all find out soon enough.
This is yet another decision that will rile fans, especially after Rockstar announced the $400 GTA VI Collector’s Box, which doesn't even include a copy of the game.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC release is yet to be officially announced by Rockstar Games. We’ll keep you posted when that inevitable announcement is made.
